Satyagraha remembrance!

September 12, 2006

Here is Gandhi’s Satyagraha in South Africa. By the way, this is one Gandhi site that never tires me; be it Gandhi’s writings, or writings on Gandhi, this is the place to go. Happy Gandhi-giri!

Bugun Liocichla!

September 12, 2006

It is the name of a new bird species found in Arunachal Pradesh. It is a short report in The Hindu, but worth your look, where you can also take a look at Bugun Liocichla. The BNHS site has a little more information — apparently, the bird species was discovered by a professional astronomer. The July-August issue of Indian Birds carries a nice picture of Bugun on the cover page. The accompanying article (pdf) has several nice pictures and lots of technical details, if you are so inclined.

Update: NYT picked up the story!

Update 2: Via birdchick, I learn about this story from National Geographic.
