Arunabha Deb’s profile is nice, and it captures the same feeling that we had when we listened to him first a couple of years ago:
First-time listeners share a common confusion: a man in his fifties, singing as well as any other reigning maestro of the day, but relatively unknown. Why hadn’t they heard him as an upcoming star?
Take a look!

Some of his live performances of ragas shuddh kalyan, multani, Ahir Bhairav etc. are available on YouTube. Worth listening (and watching)!

Guru, Pt Venkatesh Kumar is well known here in Bangalore. He is an outstanding musician and do not miss if you get a chance to listen to him. Two of his concerts are scheduled in Bangalore over next one month and I should be listening to him again, soon.

Dear Jayan:
I heard Pt. Venkatesh Kumar live (and for the first time ever) sometime in 2009. Ever since I am a great fan. However, here we don’t get to see his concerts, or, if they are there, I am not plugged in to the system to come to know of the same. So, I am restricted to CDs, computer and mp3s. Have fun and share your thoughts on the concerts in your blog.
