A must-visit place in Hyderabad

We happened to spend our Diwali in Hyderabad. We visited the Jawaharlal Nehru Zoological park, which, I think is one of the must-visit places if you happen to be in Hyd. Some sections of Ramoji film city is also very educational, if you are interested in movies and stuff. I also liked the science museum where we visited the Dinosarium and saw the reconstruction of Kotasaurus Yamanapalliensis. Who knew that Hyd could be such a geeky vacation spot? In addition, a visit to Hussain Sagar and Eat street, shopping for Hyderabadi pearls and Pochampalli sarees are other fun things to do!

The Golconda Fort is a fascinating place to visit if you are willing to shell out about 250 bucks to get one of those tour guides. They will tell you the story of what each piece of broken remnant rock was originally part of (the waterways, the queen’s residence, the dance hall, the courtyard etc:) and you see a castle come to life before your eyes.

The other place that is truly a marvel is the Salarjung museum which houses a treasure trove of antiquated artifacts, from the NIzam era mostly but there’s also some eastern and western art, in as many as 40 galleries, and is a robbery at a mere 10 rupee entrance fee!

    Dear Karthik:

Thanks; I have been to Salarjung museum quite a while ago. In my next trip I will try the museum and fort.
