Once, when I was doing my PhD, one of my friends asked me not to have too much of fun. I asked him why. He told me that the total amount of fun a person can have in his life is a fixed quantity; so, if you have too much of fun and exhaust your quota, for the rest of your life, you can not have any. Now, PhD Comics chimes in with more or less the same thought!

There’s another interesting angle here. If total amt of fun is finite, how it is spread out through one’s life can vary from person to person. It’s like a group of children having ice-cream. One will finish it fast. The other will want to save it and savour it for a longer time, much to the former’s chagrin.

I agree; the guy having fun when I have finished my quota — that is the hardest to take!!
