Remember the Uniform uniform code blogpost? I filed it under humour, and thought that it was amusing. Boy, was I wrong! Some of the finest bloggers respond to it: Cosma Shalizi, Brad Delong, and Sean Carroll. The latest response is from The Inverse Square Blog (via Coturnix). Take a look — all of them are grand fun!
Update: While a commentor in DeLong’s blog quotes Adam Smith on what not to wear, Mark Thoma quotes Thorstein Veblen (and the quote runs into nearly 15 clicks long post). I think it is time for me to quote Gandhi:
On Showing up to meet His Majesty King Edward VII of England in just a loincloth, a reporter wondered aloud if this was disrespectful to the king. Gandhi replied simply, “The King was wearing enough for the both of us.”
