I understand that Totto-Chan is a favourite book of Seth; it is one of my all time favourites too. I first read it in Tamil; I loved it but I was not too happy with the translation. Recently, I managed to get an English translation from the library and read it. In case you haven’t read the book, hunt it down–it is well worth the effort. Some diligent Googling might also get you the book online (though the legality of the online versions might be questionable).

Hi Guru,
I was looking to see whether Totto-chan has been translated in Tamil and I stumbled upon your blog. I’m thrilled to know that it indeed is available in Tamil! Could you tell me where I might find a copy of it in Chennai?
Thanks!

Dear Swapnaa,
I got the book from a friend of mine; so, I do not know where it might be available. My sister tells me there are some good book shops in T Nagar, where you might want to give a try.
